Viet Nam, Floods and Landslides in Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai

According to a quick report from the provinces and cities of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai, heavy rain from October 25-27 caused initial damage and flooding as follows:

- At home: 03 houses were damaged (Da Nang 01, Quang Ngai 02); 16 houses were flooded (Da Nang).

- Regarding population evacuation: 761 households/2,621 people in areas at risk of landslides were evacuated to safe places (Hue: 265 households/730 people; Da Nang: 470 households/1,891 people; Quang Ngai: 26 households/116 people).

- About traffic:

+ Quang Tri Province: 08 spillway locations in Ba Long and Dakrong communes were flooded from 0.6 to 2.0m deep and 06 inter-village roads in Nam Hai Lang commune were flooded from 1.0 to 1.2m deep, causing traffic jams.

+ Hue City: 2 points are still blocked on National Highway 49B due to flooding; 15 provincial roads (DT4, DT8A, DT8C, DT10C, DT19, DT21, DT01, DT02, DT03, DT8B, DT25, DT25B) are flooded and have landslides. Local authorities have placed barriers and posted warning signs.

+ Da Nang City: 4 points on National Highways 14E, 14H and 40B are still blocked due to flooding; 4 provincial roads (DT 606, DT 611, DT 615, DT 615B) and some rural roads in the communes of Phu Ninh, Que Son, Tra My, Tra Linh, Tra Leng, Phuoc Thanh, Tra Van, Tra Lien, Phuoc Chanh, Lanh Ngoc, Tra Doc, Nam Tra My, Tra Giap, Hiep Duc are flooded and landslides in many locations causing traffic jams.

+ Quang Ngai Province: There are 3 landslides on National Highway 14; some locations on Provincial Road DT.673 and inter-commune roads have landslides and are blocked.

- Other damages: 30.5 hectares of agricultural land were alluvial (Quang Ngai); 3,450m of coastline was eroded (Da Nang); 02 cultural houses were damaged (Da Nang 01, Quang Ngai 01); 100 trees were broken and felled (Da Nang).

Localities have put up warning signs, prohibiting vehicles from passing through deeply flooded areas; closely monitored the development of floods, continued to review and synthesize damage data and organized to overcome the consequences./.
