According to a quick report from Dien Bien and Son La provinces, heavy rain on the night of July 31 and the morning of August 1 caused floods, flash floods, and landslides, causing the following damage:
1. Dien Bien Province
- Regarding people: 10 people died (an increase of 02 people due to finding the bodies of 02 missing people compared to the report on August 1, 2025).
- Regarding houses: 97 houses were swept away, completely damaged, and ruined (an increase of 37 houses); 196 houses were flooded and eroded, an increase of 25 houses.
- Regarding agriculture: 34.17 hectares of rice were damaged; 1.25 hectares of ponds were flooded.
- Regarding headquarters and education: 01 headquarters and 05 schools were affected and damaged (an increase of 02 schools).
- Regarding irrigation: 5.2km of embankments, banks and 10 irrigation and domestic water works were damaged.
- Regarding traffic: 391 landslide points on positive slopes with a total volume of 760,000m3 ; 65 landslide points on negative slopes at risk of losing roadbeds; 2,430m of traffic roads; 32 culverts, bridges and culverts were washed away and damaged by floods;
- Regarding the power grid: the entire power grid system of Tia Dinh, Xa Dung, Na Son, and Muong Luan communes lost power; 46 broadcasting stations were damaged and lost mobile signals.
2. Son La Province
- About people: 04 people were injured (Muong Lan commune).
- Home: 05 houses were swept away by flood, 12 houses were damaged (increased by 12 houses).
- Regarding flooding and isolation: 12 villages are difficult to access in 02 communes (10 villages in Muong Lam commune due to landslides, access is mainly on foot; 02 villages in Bo Sinh commune due to collapsed bridge over the river).
- Regarding traffic: Many inter-commune and inter-village roads were blocked and damaged, many suspension bridges were washed away.
Localities have mobilized forces to overcome the consequences, search for missing people, help families of victims, evacuate people and property to safety; continue to count and summarize the damage./.
