Thailand, Flooding in Phuket

1. Disaster situation
On October 19, 2024, there was a heavy rain situation in Phuket Province. The accumulated rainfall at 5:00 p.m. at Ban Phru Samphan Station was 129.5 millimeters, causing flooding in the lowlands, Village 3, Thep Krasattri Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket Province. A total of 40 households or 120 people were affected.
2. Actions and assistance
Thalang District, together with the Phuket Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, Thep Krasattri Subdistrict Municipality, Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, the Third Naval Area, and relevant agencies, provided sandbags and installed water pumps.
3. Situation trends
Currently, the amount of rain that will fall in the area must be monitored.
4. The Phuket Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has notified districts, local administrative organizations, and relevant agencies to prepare for flash floods, forest runoff, flooding, and mudslides in Phuket Province between October 19 and 23, 2024.
