1.1 Floods

From 18–24 August 2026, flooding occurred in 11 provinces (Phayao, Nan, Mae Hong Son, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Uttaradit, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Ubon Ratchathani, and Kanchanaburi), affecting 30 districts, 104 sub-districts, and 591 villages.

Current Active Flood Situation

Flooding remains in 5 provinces, affecting 11 districts, 22 sub-districts, and 90 villages, with 1,997 households (6,134 people) still affected. Water levels are generally receding, except in Phitsanulok and Ubon Ratchathani where they remain stable.

From 18–23 August 2026, flooding occurred in 10 provinces (Phayao, Nan, Mae Hong Son, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Uttaradit, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Ubon Ratchathani), covering 28 districts, 101 sub-districts, and 550 villages/communities. A total of 27,910 households / 79,509 people were affected. There were 3 fatalities (1 in Pua District and 2 in Tha Wang Pha District, Nan Province), with no reported injuries.



Flooding remains ongoing in 4 provinces (Nan, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, and Ubon Ratchathani), covering 9 districts, 19 sub-districts, and 78 villages/communities. A total of 2,005 households / 6,152 people remain affected. There have been 3 fatalities (1 in Pua District and 2 in Tha Wang Pha District, Nan Province), as follows:



1. Nan Province: From 19–23 August 2026, heavy rainfall caused flooding in 7 districts, 42 sub-districts/municipal areas, and 356 villages/communities, namely Pua, Tha Wang Pha, Phu Phiang, Santi Suk, Na Muen, Wiang Sa, and Mueang Nan districts. Preliminary reports indicate that 23,827 households / 67,129 people were affected. Some roads became impassable due to floodwaters overflowing onto roads, while agricultural areas were also flooded. Further damage assessment is ongoing. There were 3 fatalities (1 in Pua District and 2 in Tha Wang Pha District), with no reported injuries.



Current situation: Flooding remains in 1 district, 6 sub-districts, and 52 villages/communities, namely Wiang Sa District, where 1,850 households / 5,750 people remain affected. Water levels are receding.



Assistance provided:



* Prof. Dr. Yoschanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation; Mr. Jhetsadet Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; the Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM); and the Governor of Nan Province monitored the situation and instructed authorities to closely monitor and assess conditions in risk areas, issue rapid and accurate warnings to communities, prepare personnel and disaster-response machinery for evacuation operations, and ensure the timely delivery of relief supplies to disaster-affected areas that are difficult to access. They also instructed authorities to monitor the recovery of Nan Municipality after the flood situation subsides, particularly within the Nan Municipality area.

* DDPM deployed one KA-32-03 rotary-wing aircraft to support evacuation operations. Disaster-response machinery was also sent to Nan Province from three DDPM Regional Centres: Regional Centre 10 (Lampang), Regional Centre 15 (Chiang Rai), and Regional Centre 16 (Chainat). The equipment included 6 flat-bottom boats, 4 water pumps, 3 high-clearance vehicles, 6 evacuation vehicles, 4 long-distance water pumps, and 10 jet skis, as well as 5,000 relief kits. DDPM also deployed Emergency Response Teams (ERTs), Air Rescue personnel, and personnel to coordinate with charitable organisations.

* The Rajaprajanugroh Foundation in Nan Province and PTT provided a total of 9,000 relief kits.

* The Royal Volunteer 904 Operations Centre established 2 Royal Kitchens, using field kitchens from Military Circle 38, 2nd Battalion, 15th Regiment, at the Pua and Tha Wang Pha District Offices.

* A total of 40 temporary shelters were established. 16 shelters remain open to receive affected people.

2. Sukhothai Province: From 20–23 August 2026, heavy rainfall caused flooding in 3 districts, 21 sub-districts, and 116 villages/communities, namely Si Satchanalai, Sawankhalok, and Si Nakhon districts. A total of 1,977 households / 5,259 people were affected. There were no injuries or fatalities. The Sukhothai Provincial DDPM Office, district authorities, police, local administrative organisations, volunteers, Civil Defence Volunteers, foundation volunteers, and relevant agencies provided assistance by moving belongings to higher ground and accelerating water drainage.



* DDPM Regional Centre 9 in Phitsanulok provided disaster-response machinery, including 1 flood-relief operations truck with a large water pump, 1 truck equipped with a long-distance water pump, 1 truck equipped with a stagnant-water pumping system, 1 light truck, 1 tractor truck, 4 diesel-powered water pumps with a capacity of 28,000 litres/minute, 1 hydraulic pumping system with a capacity of 600 litres/second, 2 hydraulic water pumps with a capacity of 1,500 litres/second, 1 10-wheel truck equipped with a 6-ton crane, and 1 6-wheel truck, together with 6 personnel.



Current situation: Flooding remains in 2 districts, 4 sub-districts, and 6 villages/communities, namely Si Satchanalai and Sawankhalok districts. A total of 71 households / 222 people remain affected. Water levels are receding.



3. Phitsanulok Province: From 20–23 August 2026, heavy rainfall caused flooding in 3 districts, 5 sub-districts, and 8 villages/communities, including Chomphu Sub-district in Noen Maprang District; Noen Phoem and Nakhon Thai sub-districts in Nakhon Thai District; and Taluk Thiam and Nong Khaem sub-districts in Phrom Phiram District. A total of 19 households / 34 people were affected, and all 19 households / 34 people were evacuated to Chomphu Temple in Chomphu Sub-district, Noen Maprang District. There were no injuries or fatalities.



The Phitsanulok Provincial DDPM Office, district authorities, police, local administrative organisations, volunteers, Civil Defence Volunteers, foundation volunteers, and relevant agencies provided assistance by moving belongings to higher ground and accelerating water drainage. Water levels are currently stable.



4. Ubon Ratchathani Province: From 18–23 August 2026, heavy rainfall caused rivers to overflow their banks in 3 districts, 4 sub-districts, and 12 villages/communities, namely Khong Chiam, Khemarat, and Pho Sai districts. A total of 65 households / 146 people were affected. There were no injuries or fatalities.



The Ubon Ratchathani Provincial DDPM Office, district authorities, police, local administrative organisations, volunteers, Civil Defence Volunteers, foundation volunteers, and relevant agencies provided assistance by moving belongings to higher ground and accelerating water drainage. Water levels are currently stable.
