Betong, heavy rain for hours, flash floods, villagers in many areas, Route 410 Yala-Betong, many places have landslides, fallen trees, causing power outages
At 19.00 on October 12, 67, heavy rain fell in Betong District, Yala Province, causing flooding, unable to drain in time. Flash floods occurred in some areas, causing villagers to suffer. Route 410 Yala-Betong, some sections had mud flowing down from the mountain, trees fell on power lines, causing power outages. Road users must be very careful.
The first point is Ban Mala Nuea, Village No. 9, Tambon Tanae Marae, after heavy rain fell continuously for about 3 hours, flash floods flooded into villagers' houses, damaging their belongings, almost 50 houses. During the flash flood, villagers had to evacuate and move their belongings to the road in the village, which is higher. After the rain stopped The water level quickly decreased. The village headman, police officers, Border Patrol Police, and the administrative sector rushed to help, sweeping and cleaning the ground so that the villagers could return to their homes.
The second location was at Ban Ka Pae Hulu, Betong Municipality, which is a village near the Betong border checkpoint. Heavy rain caused the water to drain in time and flooded many houses along the canal. After the water receded, officers from the Betong Municipality Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Unit sent water trucks to help the villagers, sweeping, washing, and moving damaged belongings.
Meanwhile, on Highway 410 Yala-Betong at kilometer 18, Tambon Tanae Mara, there was a landslide, trees fell on power lines, causing power outages. Officers from the Provincial Electricity Authority of Betong District had to urgently send officers to repair the road. At kilometer 39, between Tambon Aiyerweng and Tambon Mae Wad, Amphoe Thanto, there was water and mud flowing down the road. Officers from the Betong Highways Division had to use JCB trucks to scoop out the mud. There were also several other locations where trees fell and landslides covered the road. Most of the relevant agencies have prepared their personnel and equipment, so they can quickly resolve the issue. Currently, road 410 Yala-Betong can be used for vehicles, but drivers should be extra careful because some sections of the road may be slippery from overflowing water, mud that is still stuck on the road, and soil that holds water that could slide down and cover the road at any time.

As reported, heavy rain occurred on October 11, 2024 in Tambon Aiyerweng, Betong District, Yala Province, with accumulated rainfall of 209.2 mm, causing the situation in 2 districts. The current situation is as follows:
1. Betong District
- Tambon Aiyerweng, Betong District, at 6:00 p.m. Flash floods overflowed the banks, eroding houses along the banks, causing damage to the entire house. House number 21/6, Village 4, Tambon Aiyerweng
- Damage to life
As initially reported that there was 1 missing person, it was found that the body of Mr. Koder Luebaji, house number 21/6, Village No. 4, Tambon Aiyerweng, Betong District (deceased)
- 2 houses were completely damaged, 7 houses were partially damaged
- 16 landslides
- Actions Betong District, local administrative organizations, kamnan, village headmen, volunteers, and the mayor of Aiyerweng Subdistrict Administrative Organization inspected the damage at the scene and gave encouragement to the victims. They also ordered the village headmen and assistant village headmen to provide assistance and evacuate the people to a safe place.
2. Than To District
- Mae Wad Subdistrict, Than To District At 6:30 p.m., there was a flash flood that hit 17 houses in front of Mae Wad Subdistrict Administrative Organization. Mae Wad Police officers, local administrative organizations, local government officials, village headmen, and volunteers provided initial assistance. The water level has now returned to normal and the rain has stopped. Cleaning is in progress. Wash away the mud in the house
- The bridge at the intersection of Khok Chang Subdistrict Municipality collapsed, cars/motorcycles could not pass at 1 point.
Currently, it is recommended that people use the detour route within the village to reach their houses as usual.
- The retaining wall along Khok Chang Canal collapsed at 1 point, not affecting people's houses in any way.
- At 19.30, there was a tree falling on the road and a landslide blocking Route 410 Yala-Betong at Km. 39. Local administrative organizations, administrative officers, kamnan, village headmen, and members of the Volunteer Defense Corps went to the area to cut down the trees that fell on the road and cleared the landslide that blocked the route. It is now accessible.
- Route 410 Yala-Betong at Km. 40, an electric pole fell on the road, damaging 1 pickup truck, and slightly injuring 1 person. The Betong Electricity Authority came to fix it. It is now accessible.
