On 02 October 2022, at 7:00 PM, Pagadian City experienced strong winds and heavy rains. As a result, an alleged waterspout hit the coastal areas, particularly in five (5) Barangays, namely: Sta. Lucia, San Pedro, Dumagoc, Santiago and Kawit. It also damaged seven (7) fishing vessels and two (2) fish cages. With that incident, more or less one hundred (100) families and five hundred (500) residents in the coastal barangays were immediately evacuated to the Plaza Luz Covered Court, near the City Hall as a temporary evacuation shelter, and some evacuees are presently in the barangay covered court and school.
Initial assessments yielded no casualties, only damage to properties, houses, electrical posts, fishing vessels, fish cages, and some parts of the city proper and barangays had no electricity.
