Description

Issued at 4:00 PM on 29 May 2025, the weather advisory indicated partly cloudy to

cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, which may have caused

flash floods or landslides during severe weather conditions across the country.

On the same day at around 2:02 PM, a sudden whirlwind or tornado struck several

barangays in the Municipality of Tupi. The incident caused significant damage to

houses, power lines, crops, and essential lifelines.

At around 4:00 PM, several low-lying barangays in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat,

experienced flash floods due to continuous heavy rainfall and strong winds brought

by the Localized Thunderstorms.

Later, at 5:30 PM, heavy rains continued to pour in several barangays in the

municipality of Alamada, North Cotabato that resulted in flooding and landslides in

the affected areas.

In response, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through

its Field Office in Region XII, actively participated in the response operations and

remained in continuous coordination with the concerned Local Government Units

(LGUs) for significant updates and any requests for augmentation.
