Description

Issued on 06 October 2025 at around 4:00 AM, partly cloudy skies with scattered

rains and thunderstorms may have brought possible flash floods or landslides due to

moderate to at times heavy rains caused by Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ)

in Zamboanga Peninsula and BARMM.

On the same day, a flooding incident occurred in Brgy. Matunoy, Gutalac,

Zamboanga del Norte, caused by continuous heavy rainfall associated with the

prevailing effects of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). As a result, affected

families were displaced and sought refuge with their friends, relatives and on higher

grounds. They returned to their respective homes once the water subsided.

Relative to the incident, the Department of Social Welfare and Development

(DSWD), through Field Office IX, immediately coordinated with the Local

Government Unit (LGU) of Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte, to assess the situation

and provide necessary assistance. Hygiene kits were distributed to the affected
