On 21 August 2024, heavy rainfall caused by Southwest Monsoon affected Mindanao,
flooding low-lying areas within the Province of Maguindanao del Sur.
As of 25 August 2024, 19 barangays in the municipalities of Ampatuan, Shariff Aguak,
Datu Saudi Ampatuan, and Mamasapano experienced flooding and flashfloods due to
moderate and heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon and Easterlies.
Ampatuan
-As of 25 August 2025, three (3) barangays in the municipality of Ampatuan experienced
flash floods due to heavy rainfall caused by Easterlies
Shariff Aguak
-As of 23 August 2024, there are eight (8) barangays in the municipality of Shariff Aguak
were flooded due to moderate to heavy rainfall brought by the Easterlies which affected
Mindanao and resulted in flooding of low-lying areas within the province of Maguindanao
del Sur. As of today, the municipality of Shariff Aguak is affected.
Datu Saudi Ampatuan
-As of 23 August 2024, the water level rose causing floods in Barangay Kitapok,
Kitanago, Elian, Gawang, and Madia due to heavy rainfall caused by the Southwest
Monsoon affecting the western section of the southern Visayas and Mindanao
Mamasapano
-As of 24 August 2024, the water level from the Kabulnan River is rising due to the heavy
rain these past few days and water coming from upstream municipalities.
.PAGLAT
• As of 28 August 2024, four (4) barangays in the municipality of Paglat were affected by
flooding due to severe downpour of rain at the nearby municipality of Datu Paglas,
Maguindanao del Sur as a result of Southwest Monsoon. Although the municipality of
Paglat only experienced isolated rainshowers, the heavy downpour of rain water from the
higher places caused by the said weather disturbance traversed through the Alip River
which connects to the Buluan River and finally went through the low-lying areas of Brgy.
Tual, Brgy. Damakling, Brgy. Upper Idtig, and Brgy. Poblacion, Paglat, Maguindanao del
Sur.
