Philippines, Flash Floods and Landslides in Sultan Kudarat

NDRRMC Progress Report on 4 July:
On 25-26 June 2024-02 July 2024, continuous heavy rainfalls were experienced in the
Province of Sultan Kudarat brought by localized thunderstorms, ITCZ, and LPA. This
resulted in flashflood incidents in Esperanza and Lambayong and the presence of tension
cracks in Bagumbayan.
Chronology:
On June 25, 2024, 10:00 AM, the presence of tension cracks in Barangay Masiag,
Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat due to continuous heavy rainfall brought about by localized
Thunderstorms was reported. The said tension cracks caused damages to several
houses and roads (graveled road) in the affected area.
On June 26, 2024, 5:30 PM, a flashflood incident that happened in Esperanza, Sultan
Kudarat when creeks overflowed due to continuous heavy rainfall brought about by the
ITZC/LPA was reported. The said incident affected families in the said area.
On June 26, 2024, 11:30 PM, a flashflood incident that happened in Lambayong, Sultan
Kudarat when the Allah River overflowed due to continuous heavy rainfall brought about
by the ITZC/LPA was reported. The said incident affected families in the said area.
On 30 June 2024, around 09:00 PM, a landslide incident (rain-induced) due to heavy
rainfall brought about by ITCZ occurred in Brgy. Kadi and Brgy. Bugso in Sen. Ninoy
Aquino, Sultan Kudarat. The said incident affected families, houses and roads in the said
Barangays.
On 02 July 2024, at around 5:00 AM, a flooding incident occurred in, Barangay Lutayan
Proper, Municipality of Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat due to continuous moderate to heavy
rainfall brought about by ITCZ. The incident affected families in the said barangay.
On 02 June 2024, around 11:00 PM, a landslide incident (rain-induced) due to heavy
rainfall brought about by ITCZ occurred in Brgy. Chua in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.
The said incident affected families, houses and roads in the said Barangays.

Issued on 26 June 2024 at 4:00 PM, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated
based on all available data at 325 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (13.5°N, 127.2°E).
It is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern
Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
On 26 June 2024 at around 11:30 PM, a flash flood incident was reported in Brgy.
Caridad, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, due to continuous heavy rainfall brought by the
ITCZ.
