Due to the strength of the monsoon, which is still strong and vigorous on some days since the first week of July, the seasonal flood in Myanmar has been prolonged and now there are 75 townships from 10 States/ Regions. The seasonal flood in Myanmar started in Northern Myanmar and has now reached the Delta and the Southern part of the country. The total flood affected population is now over 230K from 56K households from Kachin, Kayin, Sagaing, Tanintharyi, Bago, Magway, Mandalay, Mon, Yangon and Ayeyarwaddy. Because of the flood one person each died from Karyin State and Sagaing Region. As of 4th August, over 120K people from over 30K households are still evacuated in 445 temporary evacuation places in 46 townships from 10 regions/states.
DDM offices in the affected area are providing the necessary assistance of food items and NFI in time by coordinating with the respective state/region Disaster Management Bodies. The government is also providing support for the renovation of houses damaged by the flood. The total amount of humanitarian assistance done by the Government is over six hundred and thirty-nine million Myanmar Kyats.
EOC is also providing the necessary inputs and value added maps to figure out the flood situation by the decision makers and people in the operation as per the attachment for your reference.
