Indonesia, Storms and Strong Winds in Blitar (East Java)

Extreme weather occurred in Blitar Regency (East Java) on Friday (17 October) at around 14:00 local time, following heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that struck four villages across three sub-districts in Blitar — namely Penataran and Mondangan Villages in Nglegok Sub-district, Tumpang Village in Talun Sub-district, and Sawentar Village in Kanigoro Sub-district.

The incident affected 32 households and caused damage to 32 houses and five public facilities. The strong winds also uprooted trees at several locations, blocking road access.

The Blitar Regency BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) immediately deployed teams after the incident to carry out response and rapid assessment efforts. As of Saturday (18 October), the clearing of fallen trees in affected areas has been completed, and traffic routes are now passable for vehicles.
