Indonesia, Flooding in South Tangerang City (Banten)

In Banten Province, flooding occurred in South Tangerang City on Sunday (6/4) at around 15.00 WIB due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. Overflowing rivers and clogged drainage caused inundation in a number of residential areas, especially in Pondok Aren, North Serpong, Ciputat, East Ciputat, and Serpong Districts.

Based on data collection, 1,211 families were affected, with the largest distribution in Jurang Mangu Barat (340 families), Pondok Jagung Timur (190 families), and Jelupang (200 families). Floods also submerged other areas such as Pondok Kacang Timur, Paku Jaya, Pondok Karya, and Rempoa. Until 22.00 WIB on the same day, the inundation began to recede in several areas such as Jelupang and Pondok Aren, while other areas were still inundated with water levels (TMA) between 10-90 cm. The South Tangerang City BPBD has carried out evacuations, assessments, and distribution of emergency logistical assistance to affected residents.
