JAKARTA - Up to now (22/3) a total of 94 residents are still reported missing after the flash flood that hit Sentani, Jayapura, Papua. The Papua Province Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported 112 people died. The number died from Jayapura Regency 105 residents and the rest of Jayapura City. After the disaster, the Governor of Papua and the Mayor of Jayapura set an emergency alert status for 7 days, while the Jayapura District Head set an emergency response status for 14 days. Meanwhile, BPBD, Basarnas and the local Fire Service and Muspika are still carrying out evacuations and handling emergencies. Emergency handling is also in the form of distribution of logistical assistance centered at the Jayapura District Office Command Post. Flash floods caused damage at different levels, 375 severely damaged (RB), 4 bridges collapsed, and other heavy damage in the form of 5 places of worship, 8 schools, 104 shophouses and 1 market. Damage debris and material carried by the swift flood were cleared by BPBD, related agencies, TNI, National Police, National Road Centers and volunteers. Meanwhile, 11556 people (3,011 families) took refuge in 28 shelter points. The largest shelter at the Gunung Merah Main Post with a total of 1,453 people (348 households). The command post has provided logistical assistance to fulfill basic needs and health services. On the other hand, ministries / agencies have sent assistance and representatives to assist in handling emergencies according to their duties and functions.
