Flooding in Karawang Regency Submerges Three Districts, Reaching Up to Two Meters
Three districts in Karawang Regency have been severely affected by flooding, with water levels reaching up to two meters following prolonged heavy rainfall that began on Tuesday (March 4) at approximately 16:00 WIB.
Affected Areas:
In Teluk Jambe District, the affected villages include:
Karangligar Village
Mekarmulya Village
Mulyajaya Village
Wanakerta Village
In West Karawang District, the affected areas are:
Tanjungmekar Village
Karawangkulo Urban Village
Meanwhile, in Pangkalan District, flooding has impacted:
Mulangsar Village
Ciptasari Village
Tamanmekar Village
Tamansari Village
Water levels in the affected areas range from 10 to 200 cm. As of Wednesday (March 5), the Karawang Regency BPBD reported that floodwaters have gradually started to recede.
Impact and Response:
According to a preliminary rapid assessment by the Rapid Response Team (TRC):
3,659 households (10,180 people) have been affected.
375 residents have been evacuated to Karangligar Village.
As of this morning, joint emergency response teams are still conducting evacuations for affected residents. The Karawang Regency BPBD has set up public kitchens, emergency shelters, and is distributing logistics to assist those in need.

Disaster Emergency Status Declared
The Karawang Regency Government has declared an Emergency Alert Status for Floods, Flash Floods, Extreme Weather, Extreme Waves and Coastal Abrasion, as well as Landslides in Karawang Regency for the 2024/2025 period. This status, as per Decree No. 100.3.3.2/Kep.489-Huk/2024, is effective from November 8, 2024, to May 31, 2025.
