Description

High intensity rainfall in North Aceh and Bener Meriah regions on Friday (4/12), 19.45 WIB. Heavy rain caused the Krueng Jambo Aye River to overflow. Then the following day (5/12), other rivers experienced the same thing, such as Krueng Keureuto, Pirak, Peto, Pase, Senom and Sawang. A total of 23 sub-districts were flooded with inundation level between 50-100cm The rain not only caused flooding but landslides in Paya Bakong and Langkahan Districts. The floods and landslides did not cause casualties but caused displacement at 15 points. Affected locations: Lokasi : • Kec. Peureulak Timur (7 Desa) • Kec. Julok (5 Desa) • Kec. Birem Bayeun (1 Desa) • Kec. Peudawa (2 Desa) • Kec. Indra Makmur (5 Desa) • Kec. Sungai Raya (13 Desa) • Kec. Peureulak (11 Desa) • Kec. Ranto Peureulak (5 Desa) • Kec. Pante Bidari (2 Desa) • Kec. Idi Tunong (6 Desa) • Kec. Nurussalam (1 Desa) • Kec. Peureulak Barat (2 Desa) Updated situation as of 6 December 2020: The latest information states that water discharge conditions are increasing. There is a potential for flood conditions to spread to other sub-districts in Aceh Utara and Bener Meriah districts. This was triggered by the rain which was still pouring out last night (5 December 2020). The flood still inundated several sub-districts in North Aceh and Bener Meriah districts, Aceh Province. Emergency management in these two districts is still ongoing. Preparedness and Response: The local BPBD identifies urgent needs such as evacuation equipment such as rubber boats, family tents, blankets and basic necessities. BPBD has asked the heads of sub-districts and officials at the administrative level to immediately report the progress of handling in their area. BPBD continues to monitor the situation in the field and make emergency response efforts.
