Description

National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) reported a flash flood in Sidenreng Rappang regency, South Sulawesi province, at the early morning of Monday, 7 August 2017, 04.00 local time. The 30-100 cm flood thus inundated several villages in Wajo Regency few hours later. There was no significant casualties, however 497 people have been affected and thus evacuated. Flash flood also cut-off electricity line in Dengeng-Dengeng village, destroyed 15 km of road and 1 bridge. It also washed away 10,000 clove trees, which is the main livelihood source of the people. Sidenreng Rappang disaster management agency (BPBD) with the support of Indonesian Army, Police, Basarnas and other local government agencies have evacuated the people. Local government also received emergency aid from BAZ Sidenreng Rappang and Tim Safari Sholat Tasbeh Foundation.
