Around 400 people have been displaced from their homes in the state of Sabah, Malaysia, in the northern part of the island of Borneo.

Flooding struck after heavy rain on 05 October 2020, affecting around 60 villages in Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud and Tuaran districts. Kota Kinabalu recorded 167.0 mm of rain in 24 hours to 05 October.

Hundreds of homes have been flooded along with health facilities and other public buildings. As of 07 October, Sabah State Information Department said six relief centres had been set up and were housing 339 people from 136 families had evacuated in Kota Belud and 55 people from 19 families in Tuaran.

Minor flooding was also reported in the districts of Kudat, Kota Marudu Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Keningau.
