Description
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that a tectonic earthquake of 6.9 magnitude with 3 km depth, struck Davao del Sur, Mindanao island, the Philippines on Sunday, 15 December 2019 at 13:11 (UTC+7). The earthquake was located on 6.80°N, 125.20°E, 9 km Northwest of Matanao Municipality.
According to PHIVOLCS, the municipalities of Matanao & Magsaysay, Davao del Sur recorded Intensity VII or destructive shaking while Intensity VI or strong shaking were felt in Kidapawan City; General Santos City; Bansalan, Davao del Sur; Alabel & Malapatan, Sarangani; Koronadal City, and several other areas experienced weak to moderate shaking as reported below:
Intensity V - Tulunan & Matalam, Cotabato; Cotabato City; Davao City; Glan, Sarangani
Intensity III - Kalilangan, Talakag & Dangcagan, Bukidnon
Intensity II - Impasugong, Bukidnon; Cagayan de Oro City; Dipolog City
Intensity I - Zamboanga del Sur.
