Abstact :

Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD) has fully operationalised the provision of marine forecasts over the Malaysian waters especially over the South China Sea region. This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the numerical wave forecasting model is prepared to outline all the steps needed to install and execute the model successfully. The processes involved are the Installation, Pre-Processing, Model Execution, Post-Processing and Quality Control. In order to run this model, wind is a crucial parameter. Hence, wind data, the zonal 10-metres component (u) and the meridional 10-metres component (v), from the Navy Global Environmental Model (NAVGEM) are used as inputs to the model. The resolution of the wind data is 0.5Ox0.5O degree.
