The Regent of Sumenep District determined the 14-day earthquake emergency response period (11-24 October 2018) after the 6 SR earthquake. The impact of the 6 SR earthquake caused 4 deaths, 36 people were injured and 419 houses were damaged. The impact of the earthquake occurred not only in Sumenep.


An earthquake with a magnitude of M6.4 magnitude shook the East Java and Bali regions on Thursday (11/10/2018) at 01.57 WIB. BMKG reported that the earthquake epicenter was located at coordinates 7.47 LS and 114.43 BT, or precisely located at sea at a distance of 55 km northeast of Situbondo City, Situbondo Regency, East Java Province at a depth of 12 km. The earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

The BNPB Post has confirmed the impact of the earthquake on the BPBD of East Java Province. While the earthquake impact data was reported, 3 people died and several houses were damaged. The worst area is in Gayam District, Semenep Regency, East Java.

Three people died were:

1) Nuril Kamiliya (L / 7) Prambanan Village, Kec. Gayam - Sumenep.
2) H. Nadhar (P / 55) Dsn. Jambusok, Prambanan Village, Kec. Gayam - Sumenep.
3) Adult Men (still identified) Prambanan Village, Kec. Gayam - Sumenep.

The victim died due to a collapsed collapsed building. The earthquake occurred early Thursday when the victim was sleeping suddenly the earthquake shook and the house collapsed so that the victim could not save himself.

In addition, several houses were damaged. The East Java Province BPBD and Sumenep Regency BPBD are still collecting data. Damage to houses is found in:
- Damaged houses in the village of Jambuir, Kec. Gayam Kepulauan Sapudi-Sumenep
- House damaged in Kopedi Kec. Bluto - Sumenep.
- Damaged house in Kertasada Kec. Kalanget - Sumenep.
- Masjid Desa Gendang Timur Kec. Depudi - Sumenep.
- Damaged house in Nyabakan timur, Batang-Batang District - Sumenep.

The M6.4 earthquake which was later updated to M6.3 by BMKG was felt throughout the East Java region including the District / City of Situbondo, Jember, Banyuwangi, Lumajang, Kab. Probolinggo, Kota Probolinggo, Bondowoso, Sumenep, Pamekasan, Sampang, Bangkalan, Kab. Pasuruan Kota Pasuruan, Batu City, Malang City, Kab. Malang, Kab. Blitar, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Jombang, Kab. Mojokerto, and the City of Mojokerto.

The earthquake shock was felt quite strongly by the people in Sumenep and Situbondo for 2-5 seconds. People pour out of the house. While in other areas the earthquake was felt to be moderate for 2-5 seconds.

Based on the earthquake map analysis was felt, the intensity of the perceived III-IV MMI earthquake in Denpasar, III MMI in Karangkates, III MMI in Gianyar, III MMI in West Lombok, III MMI in Mataram, III MMI in Pandaan. This means that the earthquake is felt to be mild to moderate. In general, there is not much damage due to the earthquake.
